Twice a year there is an auction at the botanic garden. They sell plants there for which they don't have enough space.
That's a great chance to get some exotic plants for just a few euros.

I visited one of these auctions last year. And it's really worth a visit. I got a big palm (about 1m high) for about 10 euro. And it's not one of the common races you get in the supermarket
