The Rhine tower is a striking symbol of Duesseldorf. It stands at the edge of the inner city at the southern entrance to the media habour next to the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament and the building of the West German Radio. The Rhine tower (construction period 1979 - 1982, architect H. Deilmann) is 240.5 meters high and has 172.5 meters in height a restaurant, which rotates within an hour around its own axis (For technical reasons, the platform rotates by 12 pm to 17.30 in one direction and from 18.30 am to 1 pm in the other night, the rest of the time, the restaurant stands on the spot).
